The CRB has recently reviewed its advice to clarify that it no longer facilitates the portability of Disclosure. Organizations that use portability do so at their own risk.
Portability is the re-use of a CRB disclosure for a position in another organization. But there are limitations to the process and in every case a full risk assessment should be done.
Major limitations with portability include, (N.B This is not an exhaustive list):
- An offence may have occurred since issue.
- The Disclosure may not be at the level you need.
- The original may not include ISA Vulnerable Adults List, ISA Childrens List checks.
- The applicants copy will not state any additional information.
- You may be required by law to carry out fresh checks when employment is changed.
